On October 10th, 2015, I was assigned the task within one of my UCF classes (Topics in Computer Science) to find a research paper, write a report and create a 20 minute presentation on the topic.

The title of my presentation and report was: “Electric Vehicle Charging and Load Shedding”

In it, I discuss what load shedding is, the reasoning behind it, difficulties of implementing Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers and how the paper I researched utilizes Model Predictive Control (MPC) and Linear Programming (LP) to create a Control Horizon method, that can allow for a scalable set of EV chargers to perform without increasing peak load and to perform load shedding.
